Decorating Your Home in the Winter Time

I love Winter Time! Especially when I can stay in and watch it snow outside.

Now that all the Christmas decorations are packed up and put away, is your house looking bleak and wintery? Here are some ideas to make your home look cheery, if you are missing all the Christmas colors. Or cozy, if you are ready for some soothing neutrals. And it doesn’t have to cost a lot. Or anything! Take a look.

Gathering Room

Let’s start with the gathering room. Is this where your Christmas Tree was? Now that it’s gone, this is a great time to make some fun changes.

  • Rearrange the furniture

Now that the big gatherings are over for a while, rearrange the couches, sofas, and chairs to make groupings for intimate conversations. If you’re feeling adventurous, take the bigger furniture to other rooms, replacing it with smaller pieces from those rooms.

  • Trade area rugs with some from other rooms.

Do you have floor coverings in other rooms that are different colors or shapes? Switch them from room to room to give each room a lift.

Or, is it time to replace your area rugs?

  • Leave out some books, for moments when you can take a break!

  • If your curtains don’t stack away from the windows very well, then tie them back so the daylight can stream through your house.
