5 TYPES OF BRIDAL BOUQUETS

CONTRASTING COLORS

Primary contrasting colors are:

Choose one main color. Then choose the colors on either side of it on the color wheel. Arrange these however you like.

GRADIENT COLORS

Choose a main color. Then choose lighter and/or darker tones from one side or both sides of the main color. Arrange the flowers so the color scheme goes from dark to light, or light to dark. This works well with cascade, crescent, and teardrop bouquets.

MONOCHROMATIC COLORS

These bouquets can be various types of flowers, all in the same color. Or the same type of flower, all in the same color.

CRESCENT

Longer horizontally.

TEARDROP

WATERFALL/CASCADE

Like a teardrop bouquet, but fuller at the bottom-just a bit of a taper, or no taper.

3. BY STYLE

MINIMALISTIC

Just one or a few flowers, nothing else. Or, simply arranged with a minimum of baby’s breath and greenery. Held loosely, or tied together with a simple ribbon.

FOR BRIDESMAIDS & FLOWER GIRLS

General Guidelines to Follow:

Keep the bouquets for the bridesmaids simpler and smaller than the bride’s bouquet. Keep the flower girls’ bouquets simpler and smaller than the bridesmaids’ bouquets.

For the maid of honor, have her bouquet be a lighter or a darker shade than the other bridesmaids. Or, have the main color of her bouquet be one of the wedding colors that is not being used as the main color by the bride or bridesmaids.

Use a color for the bridesmaid bouquets that the bride is not using, if the wedding bouquets are all the same size. Unless you love the monochromatic look.

Keep the flower girl bouquets light, weight-wise.

Order extra and make the boutonnieres as well!

USING REAL FLOWERS

Real flowers are so beautiful and so fragrant. They bring a natural and harmonious feeling to your wedding.

Bouquets with real flowers take extra care. Assign someone to care for these bouquets on the day of the wedding. Especially if it’s a summertime (hot) outdoor wedding.

USING ARTIFICIAL FLOWERS

Bouquets with artificial flowers can be made ahead of time. They come in bright colors, which show up well in photos.

Some brides choose to use artificial flowers for bridal photos before the wedding. Then real flowers on the day of the wedding. It’s nice to have choices!
