We hiked up to Timpanogos Cave last weekend. It’s a one day trip that takes about 3-4 hours. We went on a perfect day. It had rained that morning, and everything was clear and green, and the clouds were spectacular!

Timpanogos Cave, American Fork, Utah

TREES

The trees were incredible. They grew anywhere and everywhere, and they looked like they would fall over at any time. What was holding them up?!

ROCKS

Timpanogos Cave is located in the Wasatch Mountain Range, which is part of the Rocky Mountain region. While hiking up to Timp Cave, I quickly came to realize why these mountains were called the Rocky Mountains. So many gorgeous rocks! And we saw so many different types of rocks, from so many different zones. Watching the rock layers change from type to type as we hiked was incredible. The hike is 1 1/2 miles up to the cave. The elevation starts at about 5,600 feet and ends at about 6,700 feet. So, it’s a quick, steep hike of about 1,100 feet!

MOUNTAINS

We were surrounded by beautiful mountains and clouds while we hiked.

WILDLIFE

We saw wildlife! A Rocky Mountain Bighorn Sheep! And there were beautiful red wildflowers everywhere.

AT THE TOP

We made it to the top! And going through the cave was amazing!

If you are in Utah, or if you are traveling this summer, take time to go to the Timpanogos Cave National Monument. It’s a fun adventure!
